Photo: Sky Who knew the comedian Bill Bailey was an ornithologist? Of
his many fans from Never Mind the Buzzcocks or Black Books probably
very few, yet tonight here he is fronting a Birdwatching Bonanza on
Sky1, taking minor celebrities around the country and enthusing them
with his passion for twitching.

Then again, who knew Bill Bailey liked Thomas Pynchon, before he
started discussing the abstruse novelist in his arena-filling stand-up
routines? Indeed, who knew Bailey was a brilliant musician, until they
went to one of his gigs and saw him parodying Kraftwerk with a song
called Das Hokey Cokey on keyboards and guitar, and frighteningly well
at that? His is a mind with more avenues than Milton Keynes.
