ahh the flavor and the savor of those times
Workingman's Dead - Grateful Dead's response to Altamonte (New
Speedway Boogie), also a reaching back to folk, country, and, well,
working-man's roots
--- this is sort of relevant to IV, in that Doc's circle of friends
takes in a lot of working class people, also bikers and even the Aryan
Brotherhood
--- the sort of hippiedom that sprang from the ranks of the working
classes rather than from student revolution or Marxist analysis
The Last Whole Earth Catalog - a compendium of hippieness perhaps never equaled
--- again, the emphasis on the melding of hippies with working class,
work ethics, work as creative expression, work
--- also the Whole Earth people were among the first to embrace computers
--- they printed that Brautigan poem about "machines of loving grace"
in that issue
--- they also featured Steve Baer and "Zomeworks"
