Saw one of these demonstrated when I was a little kid at a place
called "Pleasure Island" in Massachusetts.

That was in the late '60's. The technology should have gotten better
by now. It should be feasible to manufacture them. Keeping people from
smashing into buildings, planes, mountains, trees, the ground and each
other is a different story. Can you imagine a few thousand of these in
a city filled with drunken college students?
