<< Ooh, I do like the South Pacific reference, Humberto. Robert, for a
few bucks difference, are the Half.com and eBay sellers as reputable
as Amazon? Would you trust anyone who would let go of the Red Book
for $10? >>

Can't say anything about this particular seller, but surely $10 is suspiciously cheap?

In general, any seller who is vending via Amazon will usually be at pains not to screw you around, lest they lose their status in the Amazon marketplace. If you buy from a seller who is listed on Amazon's 'new and used' sellers list, and you have a problem, and the seller fails to satisfactorily respond, you can email Amazon with your grievance and they will sort it out.

As for ebay, caveat emptor, etc. I was trying to buy a photography book recently. The hardback is out of print, and only available for ridiculous prices. The paperback is not out yet, but is due for publication later this year. I saw a copy advertised on ebay, at a reasonable price. But the listing said it was paperback. Maybe that's a typo, I thought, maybe this guy is selling the hardback, if so great. When I emailed him, he said "this is a paperback version. It is a pre-order". In other words, he was 'selling' a book which is not due to be published for several months yet!
