should I know where you learned this for sure?  I think he and buddy
Mr Farina role-played and maybe went to a Halloween party as Hemingway
and Fitzgerald.

My reason of course for not making much of a Fitzgerald connection is
the guy's so effing gloomy, his books so unrelentingly sad.  Not what
I get out of Pynchon at all.  No sir, not a bit of it.
