In Brasil, we use this word, "Saltimbancos" to mock a person or group
who act like circus performers or sometimes look the part. In any
event, after thinking about the gnostic references, and the study of
Rilke in GR, I go to thinking that P was into the acrobat stuff even
as early as V. and that perhaps, it is not merely Rilke that he lifts
from.

The skin and the fear of skin (the whiteness of the whale & Co.) has
been much discussed in the P-lit, and here it's falling off from the
sun's power seems worth a turn.
