nature named Frederick Goddard
Tuckerman.....rediscovered and published in 1965...

TRP 'relevance" is that he has a poem about a wanderer on the Argentine pampas, 
reminding of that bit in GR
and his wanderer:

"Sees the vault blacken,/ feels the dark wind strain,/ hears the dry thunder 
roll, and knows no rain."

Yeah, I don't either, but where did the Argentine pampas trope come from?
