It's such an odd thing, Mason and Dixon. V. was my first Pynchon and the
main thing that struck me was the narrator. You could say the same about
GR, I think, but in M&D it's taken to its extreme, and, I think this can't
be understated, it's the novel of a new father. I know the research started
much earlier, but the final product is such a humane and loving thing...
