V-2nd: The Whole Sick Crew

Molly Hite, a good early interpreter of TRP and a contemporary (or almost) 
said she knew these kinds of bohemians when she was young. 
 
Most interesting since she is a woman.
 
Is it the narrator's semi-omniscient judgment and the comedy wrap that
stylizes it over a simpler realism?
