NP: Jose Saramago, RIP

I only ever read Blindness and that was in translation, but I loved it.
I found the prose actually rich in their sparsity, which is a difficult
line to walk I think. Stylistically brilliant and it carried me along
sufficiently to read it in one sitting - this probably added to my
emotional response to the novel. I read it recently so I came late to
Saramago. I'm going to have to get back on that horse. 

A real loss.
