Wasn't it Lenin that wrote in his War and Peace (not sure of the volume)
that the history of civilization is only a history of war itself? Must
go and find a quote (I think I was like 14 when I last looked at it).
Maybe it's place in literature is therefore secured and our discussion
of mankind can only take place through the lens of battle. Maybe it is
truly the One Big Question. hmmm
