Slothrop is, hands down, my favourite character in Pynchon's works.
He somehow manages to be both the most cartoonish AND the most human and endearing character Pynchon has created. In addition to Slothrop's outrageous antics, Pynchon has provided him with so many (of his own?) individual quirks, peculiarities and speech patterns that he seems somehow real, all too real.
