Here's a very sober piece on the statistical aporia of democratic elections:

Not that I'm against democracy, but the brain-hurting maths of the
article suggest that there is no voting system that will ever give us
reason to give up drinking.
Get to the bit about wine/beer/milk - makes a lot of sense when it
comes to Bush, and might raise some too-little-too-late thoughts re:
the upcoming British election.
Is voting compulsory in the UK? I can only hope so.
