Addendum on Inherent Vice resonances from The Road to Woodstock

Couple-three things....one of the key women in the Woodstock Festival org was named
Penny Stallings.....she described herself as a Texas gal professionally lost in New York CIty
and when she interviewed for a job--one interview w a woman---she said, "all the other women
wore no make-up---I was a pure Texas girl with lots of make-up on and and extra-blond hair---very not natural"----
But a short skirt....like the other women. 

She did get the job. 

A guy named Wes Pomeroy was hired as Head of Security....[lotsa interesting stuff about interviewing candidates
and asking what they would do if a person handed them a joint......and how most, in describing a security strategy would
speak of police dogs and barbed wire...]. Not Wes.....

who had worked as deputy director of the Law Enforcement Assisstance Administration[ LEAA ] under L. Johnson and had reported 
directly to AG Ramsey Clark..........and who was asked to stay on by Nixon when he was elected and replaced Clark with
John Mitchell who, with Nixon's Admin,  "changed the LEAA's role from being a department that taught police and administration how
to deal peacefully with civil unrest to primarily being a supplier of weapons (shotguns, tear gas, nightsticks) for local police
departments. "...........He resigned....

During the '68 Democratic National Convention, he had tried hard to negotiate with Mayor Daley to avert the riots.
