>From Slow Learner: TRP sez that from beat writing, he began "to get a sense of
that other world humming along out there".
Also, just picked up a copy of The Greening of America from that time between
L49 and GR, the time around
IV's time, never read then, nor yet, but in which I believe the word
'counterculture' was coined...
Either relate to The Counterforce, ya think?
My copy of V. opened to the Benny on the subway scene in which, describing the
NY white collar workers who
ride it, he sez, "all manner of affluent have filled the 'limits of that world'
and I remembered Rachel feeling unable to
actually Go beyond the limits of her world, she thought and then this line from
Wittgenstein crossed my mind:
The limits of our language is the limit of our world and although early Witt had
ad deeper metaphysical meaning
to it, an artist like TRP, who we know read hisself some Witt might be using it
with creative analogousness, ?,
just to talk about the limited worlds/experience of folks in the dominant
cultural stream.......
To whom the underculture is not visible....?
