Young male playwright Shakespeare, stretching himself with his quill pen,
had 'rape' on his mind--for his work-- as a possible happening in a play that
carried
some kind of human resonance, it seems...........
Before he was 30, there is the attempted one in "Two Gentlemen of Verona",
prior to it the friend of one woman saying to her, that she has to travel in
male disguise to avoid
possible male ravishment...
there is the long poem, The Rape of Lucrece and
there is a horrible one with mutilation in Titus Andronicus............
Against Our Will, Susan Brownmiller......a book I never read 'cause I thought
the thesis
was 'crazy'...........
