Holy Crap!
It just came to me!
The perfect Pynchon follow-up to "Inherent Vice."
"An American Romance"
Set in the era between about 1855 to about 1880ish.
Packaged like a crap Mass-Market Johanna Lindsey bodice-ripper, with
overt visual references on the cover to "Gone With The Wind," Pirates
and the Scottish Highlands.
Kilts, the gals simply can't get enough of 'em!
The plot focuses on Maude's [the nominal heroine] vacation spot in the
Bermuda Triangle, with many unreconcilable fiscal issues concerning
the constantly shifting property values of her Island Estate*.
Cameos by Prospero, Ahab and as always, Seaman "Pig" Bodine.

* What can I say, sometimes the Island seems to have a mood of its
own, attracting strange visitors, with plenty of them "C.A.M. P."
helicopters threatening overhead. And sometimes the land seems to be a
different sort of creature, bodily ejecting its inhabitants back into
the turbulent surrounding seas.
