Um, did any of you boyz actually read those Slow Learner stories?
These speculations about P's metanoia after California drugs are thin
ice, so I think it wise to support these biographical conjectures with
textual evidence. While there is plenty of textual evidence that
Pynchon matured and expanded his interests, in Nature, Rilke, LSD,
Film, Astrology, Black Magic, Poe, Burton .....his ancestors and the
heretical religious texts, we should not try to pin down the event or
substance or whatever that poured gas on a beautifully burning candle.
