That Man, any man(woman), sometimes had a death wish was, maybe, believed
only by some creative geniuses until depth psychology came along (in the West).
Fair to say?  
 
Anyway, rereading The Merchant of Venice I am struck that Shakespeare had Portia's
first suitor, who had to choose one of the three chests to win her in marriage--the one
with her pic inside---when he choose the gold one, had chosen 'what most men want"------
