that in the famous "hath not a Jew, eyes, etc." speech Shylock makes in
The Merchant of Venice he is arguing that he should be able to secure his "bond' with
Antonio just like any Christian and he builds to saying he has the right to 
his 'revenge' 
 
just like any Christian enacts his "Christian revenge".............
 
I am surprised in my rereading to see revenge imputed naturally to
Christianity in a play largely for Christians to whom it must have seemed [true?]
a natural part of Christianity's meaning....?
 
No wonder Jacobean Revenge tragedies followed.............
