SciFi elements in "Gravity's Rainbow"?

I'm referring to The Plot Against America, and specifically alt history
fiction written by others. The Counterlife's kind of a different critter,
alternative versions of persons and events, if I remember correctly. It's
been ages since I read it. Literary in approach and non-genre.
