Learned in a book about Eliot---and this may have gone round
the plist Already, I may be remembering---that Eliot seems to
pay homage/allude to something in Adams' Education and even
wrote about it in a misc. essay (not published in any book collection
by 1972)..........
Betcha it was T.S. who led TRP to Adams, ya think?
Two bonus tidbits if you have read this far: 1st, seems the other Eliot--
the one who was Pres of Harvard was the one to bring 'electives' into
students' life........
And, when TS was in France and wanted to attend lectures by Henri Bergson,
whom he had read and who influenced his thinking a lot, attending a Bergson
lecture was hot, which meant one should show up maybe an hour early----
which really filled up the statistics class that preceded Bergson....
