The 1882 Transit of Venus in Wired

I'd been thinking about attending the International Pynchon Week that was
supposed to take place in Durham next June. However, it looks like it has
been postponed until 2013:

(If someone knows more about this, please let me/us know.)

The last time I attended the Week was in Malta in 2004. On a roof in
Valletta, I witnessed the Transit of Venus with wonderful fellow
Pynchonites.

A couple of days ago, Henry posted a link on FB to the 2012 Transit page.

According to the map, the whole thing can be seen in Northern Lapland.
And the sun never sets there in June... think I'll go up there if the
Durham happening really is postponed.

No clouds, please. All p-listers are welcome to join me.
