I knew someone was bound to take this position.  The difference is
that IV isn't really a detective novel.  More like an assemblage of
amusement rides:  White Fang (scary & deep potential)?  Real Estate
mogul's evil plot, or search for redemption?  Kidnapped and/or killed
innocent bystanders?  All this (and more!) with side shows of Doper
Humor!  Lots of portent w/ no payoff.  And poetry-free!
