I like Bartleby as the embodiment of the development of conscience,
formerly employed at the Dead Letter office....
what else becomes so inconvenient to efficient business practices as
to inspire a change of address -- as Halliburton and so many others
find their operations conducted more smoothly offshore -- and the
invocation of the gendarmerie?
