Back to A Fan's Notes, which, now that I have dipped back into
Herzog, two--three years earlier, seems like the book without
which Exley couldn't have found his book........
 
And, very misc. Didju know that for some years around (and including
1295) in Florence, Italy, there were public rhyming contests involving
ridicule by poetry deteriorting into vulgarity, some say.
 
Florence, 13th Century birthplace of rap contests; playing the dozens, who knew???

Dante participated in one in 1295, it seems
