Yes, I can see that, Pudding...but Ratched, while she does manage to
use her power to intimidate the young doctors, boys really, who fear
that they may be transfered to more difficult labor (Cuckoo's Nest may
be read as a novel about Work), has but one serious challange from the
doctors and others on the staff and that challange comes from Doctor
Spivey. Dr. Spivey, who may or may not be an addicted to hospital
drugs, is threatened by Ratched with exposure and ruin.  Inspired by
RPM, however, Doc Spivey poses a serious challange to her communist
perversion of the humane methods Doc Spivey and RPM employ to
strengthen the men. Ned Pointsman has Mexico and several others who
challange him. A larger, more complex work, with more cranks,
characters for satire,  is GR.
