Not quite live, I might add. But all this interesting
news from Egypt has set me thinking (don't say I
didn't warn ya-} about what lines of communi-
cation might still be hashed together, at the roots,
when "The Man" in any given society, decides
it's time to hit the "Kill Switch." I mean, that's
at least part of the underlying message, right?

Here, in the land of the Slow and the Stupefied,
where we might just as easily be staring at a
large cube of smack, there would be some
severe withdrawal symptoms if the flow of
pablum were to suddenly cease. Who would
come to our aid in such a crisis? Things could
get dicey if all we had left was the woo-woo
telegraph.

I was surprised to find out- doin' a little r'search-
that broadband, for example, can be propagated
over the power lines (google BPL)- don't need no
Fios or Cable. Some special equipment still
required, of course, and there would probably
be ways to "kill it" given the centralized nature of
the grid, but the point is, there are always alter-
natives. Diversity seems to be key. That, and
thinking ahead.

In the case of Lamont Replevin, who has attracked
the attention of the info police, and hence Lew B.,
the meta-message might also be that the
relationship between information and power is
more complex than direct, and is sometimes even
inversely related. I like the idea of using the lines
of power themselves to transmit information.

There is a thermodynamic interpretation in there
somewhere, as well, I'm sure, but so far, it's just
beyond my ken. In the meantime, back to The Slow
and the Stupified.
