the quality of the prose signals a keen mind.
The thorough and innovative continuity argues a concern with "the
whole" - ...no loose ends; attentive reading is rewarded with, like,
glimpses of the maker's mark, the small building blocks are of high
quality and are artfully placed.

Therefore I think the larger divisions were given attention as least
as thoughtful.

If the Benny chapters follow a chronological order with flashbacks and
tell a coherent tale that can be parsed separately (which I think is
true)

then what kind of narrative is being told by the Stencil chapters -
why specifically *these* occurrences? - a-and, why in that particular
order?

or, sigh, admitting my ineluctable subjectivity, what kind of cool
aesthetic effects can I derive from these juxtapositions and enjoy:
what poetic succession of images can be discerned, "proven" from the
text, and even talked about, that can trigger the sort of appreciation
one reads novels for...a right-brain realization that nevertheless can
be hinted at and evoked with words?
