but also because the idea met my standards -
a) surveillance is important in Pynchon (eye in the sky; snitching in
Vineland; paranoia in GR)
b) Police goings-on, as here embodied by Bigfoot, important in IV,
often entail wiring somebody up
c) things you don't catch first time thru - how do I know this isn't
one of those?  anyroad a good reason to look thru the book again and
relish
