who had handed him a pinch of a peyote cactus's juicy bits, "take half a gram of 
phanerothyme."
The word the poet coined there at the end for perception-altering drugs, alas, 
did not stick; Humphrey Osmond, the psychiatrist, wrote back: "To fathom Hell or 
soar angelic, just take a pinch of psychedelic."
