Sure. I read the Wind-up Bird Chronicle. Enjoyed it as a fairly light
read. It's not something I intend to study. After all, I am of the
persuasion that translation isn't, really. To grasp a work in
translation, one must have a sense of the cultural source. I have not
a Japanese, Chinese, Russian, German or even Scottish soul. I barely
even understand some of what it is to be an American. But American
authors reveal more to me than does any work in translation. Just the
way it is. The Japanese think Murakami rocks. That says a lot to me.
