i don't know it either but my copyright lawyer/friend allows me to play one
online occasionally.
Reason even a couple-four lines MIGHT not qualify for fair use is that a
songwriter has so few copyrighted lines
---compared to a novelist, say---that even two lines is a large
percentage---like 20 pages of a 200 page novel, say........
And companies did not want to challenge her.

I don't know copyright law, but I find it bizarre that quote a couplet or
quatrain or some song lines wouldn't be considered fair use.
