NYC Theatrical Premiere, One Week Only!
Writer-director Alex Ross Perry + Special Guests in person Friday, 7/15.
Impolex
"We need more movies like this."
- Ignatiy Vishnevetsky, MUBI
"IMPOLEX traffics in the absurd for effect, but it truly arrests with
a late-inning long dialogue scene which seems to take place outside of
time, enriching what we've seen and recasting the whole of the project
in a new light."
- Karina Longworth, SPOUT
"A mixture of low-budget derring-do, eccentric emotionality and
Pynchonesque discursiveness."
- Keith Uhlich, TIME OUT NY

IMPOLEX is the ambitiously offbeat first feature from THE COLOR WHEEL
writer-director Alex Ross Perry, who calls his debut "an unjustifiable
blend of the bare-bones realism in John Ford's WWII documentaries and
the glorious stupidity of Abbot and Costello." The cult fave of
CineVegas and Migrating Forms (and two-time prizewinner at the
Melbourne Underground Film Festival) makes its NYC theatrical premiere
with a week-long run, July 15 - 22.
Shot in 16mm by Sean Price Williams (FROWNLAND and BEIJING TAXI),
IMPOLEX follows a fresh-faced U.S. soldier named Tyrone S. (Riley
O'Bryan) during Operation Paperclip, a reconnaissance mission to
retrieve unexploded German rockets after the end of World War II.
Tasked with finding what he believes are the last V-2s, Tyrone seems
lost in the woods of an undefined European country, with people from
his past appearing in unusual ways to bear strange tidings. A loved
one he abandoned for the war (Kate Lyn Sheil of GREEN and SILVER
BULLETS) is especially prominent in Tyrone's journey, as is a fellow
soldier and a mysterious man with reports of a future yet unknown to
our hero.
73 minutes. In English. Unrated.
