Misc. learned on the publishing possibilites of The Recognitions

An old publishing friend, who was a key force at Avon during those heady 
60s and 70s sez that one cover idea for the first Avon paperback edition of The
Recognitions---his idea---was to have a guy walking, leaning forward,
somewhere near Wash Square Park (maybe recognizeable) 
 carrying a copy of The Recognitons visible
under his arm.....
