I sent this before reading Paul's post re. nut house previous use of
WV. I strongly agree that the nut house connotations should be
included. That white visitation would have been from the white dressed
strong-arms swooping down to cart off the patient against his will.
Divine intervention in human affairs is typically violent, and not at
all wanted by the recipient. Mary's pregnancy wasn't consensual, was
it?
That irony of the intersection of all levels of psychic madness is
very much the point here.
