V. very misc. --new book about the year and the major international crisis of the present of the novel

Not that i know much of anything about this whole year, but i especially did not 
know that Nixon, a Pynchon theme, was sorta in charge after
Ike had a heart attack. And the 'betrayal' of the French and English, a bit of 
dialogue in V. is adumbrated below.
And, again, TRP touched internationally important places early and presciently, 
it seems.
