appears again early in Against the Day...page 12....as it is
brought in saying...."there is not enuff time" to rig Miles
in a parachute the doing of which would "tax the topological genius
of herr Riemann himself".......


Here's what I mean about this book: I might gloss this by saying
in this virtual aside--but never really--TRP packs in his theme of 
time, living in it, the chance to do so humanly running out and 
linking it to Reimann's Hypothesis (of 1859, as MB reminded us)
and therefore the line from V. about when the historical disease started
And, even more speculatively, suggesting the Reimann Hypothesis is
symptomatic of the disease......................

Just sayin'.
