nick sullivan is a genius. i listened to all of _J R_ last year and am
now halfway through _The Recognitions_. as i think i've said before,
Sullivan really creates a whole new artistic work out of his raw
materials. it's not the same as reading the books, it's a different
experience. but complementary and often enlightening. i'm going on 75
hours or so of listening to him and will be sad when it's over. in TR
he finds an especially good voice for The Town Carpenter (Wyatt's
father-in-law), for Otto and for Basil Valentine. His Fuller is good,
too, and his Stanley. amazingly enough, he gets the cocktail party
chatter scenes going so it's like being at a cocktail party. in new
york. in 1953.
in short: magic.
