Someone, a writer, not a scholar or critic wrote of shakespeare that
the poetry is so fine but THEN there comes something so
unbelieveably surprising, profound that it can astonish
.....maybe sublime. I say.
For me. a moment which foreechoed bits in GR, occurred in Coriolanus.
War & peace bits and the return of the repressed in history in GR.
Coriolanus, if you don't know it, is about a war-minded general who
becomes King but can't BE King in peacetime.......(to oversimplify)
In mid-play two citizens are talking about war & peace.....One says
What's the good of peace anyway?.....It just rusts iron and creates
too many tailors and bastards....
The other riffs on the values of soldiery and agrees War is good for man
Because "Peace breeds nothing but hatred between men"..............
Almost sublime, yes?
