highly recommend the Bowker and Day biographies of ML
and one should read Hear Us O lord short stories
even Lowry's unfinished fumblings (Dark as the Garve, October Ferry)
are worthy reads

and yes you should read one of Lowry's later letters explicating what
UtV was all about--pretty amazing really (it's like 30 pgs)
