NPR Should banks be banned from derivitives?

A simple, but useful introduction. The spin, derivitives are evil, is
nonsense. We can't function without them. The question is what
institutions should be permitted to use them and in what capacity,
not, how are the banks using taxpayer dollars to make billions by
trading derivitives. The banks are doing what makes sense. The Fed
needn't give them the money, but ti does because it helps all of us
and without it we would have the meltdown so many not so smart
prognosticators are calling for. Again, if you outlaw derivitives be
prepared to have a lower standard of living. Who me? In America? Yes,
buddy, you!
