perhaps the fact that the New Speedway Boogie glides into comfortable
generalizations rather than gearing up into incitements to rash action (so
common in those days) is the newness of its message?
it's not a *bad* song...
it's like when you watch John Lennon try to calm the crowd in Montreal, or
the time somebody on Jerry Garcia's behalf tries to explain how not being
cool at a free concert is really not cool...
they ramble on a little bit (not all that impressively) and one thinks how
much harder it is to get a bunch of people to really listen and think, than
it is to get a crowd's attention by offering free goodies or inciting
nastiness
but those dudes and dudettes protesting in Wall Street are avoiding that
sort of demagoguery, at least...mostly... or so it seems at this remove...
(and me? my point is that, if shopping for financial services, the lesson
of these times is to use due diligence. I *want* to believe those guys
aren't all crooks, from the bottom of my soul!
