rereading The C of L49 once again...

after our The Recognitions time, I notice th in chap 5,
"You'd be amazed at how much you can sell an honest forgery for" [sez Cohen, blowing his nose]
and the forgery is only on the Lincoln 4c, Regular issue, 1954.....
 
more unproveable speculation but an homage to the forgery world right before the pub date
1955 of The Recognitions?
