In 1964 author Ken Kesey (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest) and the
Merry Pranksters set out on an LSD-fueled road trip across the US in a
magically colored school bus driven by Jack Kerouac’s speed-freak
traveling companion Neal Cassidy to hit NYC’s World’s Fair.  The
original trip was filmed on 16mm color film, but Kesey was never able
to sync the audio properly with the picture so all the footage was
simply boxed up and put in storage.  Ellwood and Gibney, 40 years
later, took that footage and created Magic Trip.
