I mean, in Rand, the characters live inside a world defined by her
philosophy and exist only to embody it,
whereas in Pynchon philosophies are a feature of a world experienced
by characters who exist to experience and be contemplated upon...
not well said...
in Rand the philosophy is the oatmeal and the characters are the raisins
in Pynchon, the philosophies are the bananas and the characters are
the varied foodstuffs encapsulating them; or perhaps the philosophies
are the burners on Pirate's stove, and the bananas are the characters
and the eggs are the different types of experiences they have...
