how 'bout that Santayana anyway? wikipedia has him down as a sort of
pragmatist a la William James and Josiah Royce (whoever that is)
novelist too, that's interesting. _The Last Puritan_ was a bestseller too.
I've always thought he would have to be Hispanic, like the Santa Ana
winds and Santa Ana at the Alamo.
And he was indeed Hispanic in his ancestry, but he's considered an
American philosopher, and lived the last bunch of his years in
It'ly....true cosmopolitan. ...and, judging from the sample alice
quoted, quite a nice prose stylist
but perhaps a little melancholy? not that there's anything wrong with that...
