In McDuff's intro I learn that, like T.S. Eliot who was so influenced
by French Symbolist poetry---he was said to have brought it to English--
the short prose poem, see Baudelaire, Rimbaud, which came out of French Symbolism
did not 'take' in Russian perhaps because of an old tradition of longer poetic
prose works ala Pushkin, Gogol's 'poem" Dead Souls..................
Which Russian Symbolist prose Bely was the 20th Century master of............
