I saw Vidal on the pre-award show to the Booker presentation in '97 or '98, whatever year God of Small Things won, and he mentioned Pynchon, in passing, in a positive context.

I have heard, no proof, no sourcing, so delete now if you want, that one reason TRP 
may not be in or even in a schedule to be in the Library of America was Gore
Vidal's vehement opposition. 
 
Just sayin' --and we know very few living writers are even considered anyway.
