In the Zone with Lars von Trier

Last night I watched Lars von Trier's /Europa /(US-title: Zentropa) on
'arte TV' and to me it was very resonant with echoes from /Gravity's
Rainbow/. The relation of Leo Kessler and Katharina Hartmann (played by
Barbara Sukowa) reminds me strongly of Slothrop and Katje. And the way
things turn out for Kessler in the end - showing that it's not so easily
possible for America to shake off her deadly European roots - is, imo,
largely in accordance with the perspective of Pynchon 1 from V over Col
49 to GR.

Even if you don't like some of von Trier's later works - me I enjoyed
/Melancholia/ earlier this summer and am still enthusiastic about it! -,
you should have a look at this one in a Pynchonian context.
